The plan worked. Got a teacher talking about channeling. Said I was very astute, which is code for "you're big and surprisingly not stupid," but I'll let that slide. Mostly because he didn't realize I was actually talking about the time I got so fucked up on pyro that I got in a fight with a tree.
But between the drugs, murder, prison and the lifetime of repression, I had enough to get what he was talking about. And I'm starting to think that yes, I was right about the drugs keeping me down. Maybe not just by themselves, but all the techniques he was talking about sounded familiar. Getting high might've just gotten in the way of what the Force could've been giving me instead.
Prison meant hard detox, at least in maximum security where they actually gave a damn about inspections. I've barely touched anything in years, which was not worth it. Being sober in CPC sucked. I've been thinking about it since they shipped me out to Korriban, definitely. I think I've already figured out who the spice dealer is around here.
But let's see what the Force can do for me first. Get back in that mindset. Use it to tap into the mystical powers at the heart of the universe and rip the heart out of an ancient tomb monster.
Let's give it a try.
P.S. Took the speeder to the pad closest to the tomb. There's a lord that's set up there. Renning. He's got an outdoor lab where he's cutting up tuk'ata in the name of research into the Force. I always thought labs were supposed to be clean, but not this one. Still, he's talking about some interesting ideas. Maybe ones I've already thought up while absolutely blind on glitter, but the basis of it seems to make sense.
Also, I'd caught Tremel sniping at one of Renning's helpers earlier, trying to keep Renning from recruiting me for research. That made me think the lord was looking for test subjects, but no, he just really wants a great big tuk'ata brain. He might be nuts, but he's got more longevity than Tremel right now, so I'm going to pitch in a favor so maybe he'll remember it later.
Two favors: his apprentice really wants that brain messed with. Got some sort of plan to dope it so Renning looks like a fraud and she can leave her apprenticeship. No explanation of how it'll work, no hint of a backup plan or position lined up to replace it. And most importantly: nothing set up to keep out of frying distance from an angry lord.
She thinks she's due better things than this, but that is not a good plan. I'm broke, but I don't care about the extra credits she offered. That's just not worth it. Especially not when influence is more important right now.
It's amazing how few of these people would survive in prison.
